NAME: Jeremy Krull D.O.B.: 12/27/85 INSTRUMENTS: |
FAVORITES:
Guitarists:
Well my earliest influences were Brian May, and guys like Steve Vai. I really take great inspiration from my teacher, Terry Syrek. I've always enjoyed Paul Gilbert, Michael Romeo and Yngwie Malmsteen also. I also am inspired quite a bit by the late Shawn Lane. Currently though I've been listening to tons of Allan Holdsworth, as well as Scott Henderson, and Greg Howe, and I could never forget Brett Garsed.Bassists:
While a lot of my friends really like the chops-heavy slap/double-thumb bassists, I really am more a fan of I guess you could say, finger players. I really dig obviously Jaco, but I also like Tony Franklin, Tony Levin, and Lincoln Goines. I'm also quite a big fan of Joe Santerre, Gary Willis, and Anthony Jackson.Keyboardists:
Although it's the instrument I play the least, I draw heaps of inspiration from great keyboardists, and there are quite a few. I really really dig Chick Corea, and of course Herbie Hancock. I've always like the old-school progressive guys like Wakeman and Emerson as well. Jens Johansson is a badass on many levels, as well as Jordan Rudess.Drummers:
I used to be really really into metal drumming, although I don't really play a lot of heavy metal on drums anymore, I used to be really into Nicholas Barker, as well as Nicko McBrain, Vinnie Paul, Dave Lombardo, and Tomas Haake. Part of the reason I stopped playing metal, was mostly because of the amount of shock I was putting through my hands and arms. I really like drummers with sick pocket, guys like Vinnie Colaiuta, Simon Phillips, Weckl, Dave DiCenso, Morgan Agren. And of course, guys like Virgil Donati, Marco Minneman, and Ed Warby are pretty hip too.Singers:
Freddie Mercury, absolutely one of a kind, there will never ever be another, my all-time favorite. I love Seal and Sting as well. Russel Allen has also really done a lot for the genre he's in, a great soulful, powerful voice, same for Jorn Lande. Jay Van Fegglen, and Eric Clayton (both on Ayreon albums), phenomenal as well. Devin Townsend is completely inhuman and unique too. I liked John West a lot on his first Royal Hunt record (Fear) as well.Bands:
So many, too many. My all-time favorite is Queen. I really dig Symphony X, and Rage (from Germany), and of course Arjen Lucassen's works (Ayreon, Star One/Stream Of Passion). The Jon Finn Group made two really smoking records as well, and of course Racer X. I really am a fan of Dimmu Borgir as well, and the last few Cradle Of Filth albums, the newest Dark Funeral album was awesome, but I'd like to hear all of their music. I've been a fan of Type O Negative for a long time as well as Fear Factory, and KMFDM as well. Tribal Tech also, and the Elektric Band. And pretty much everything Devin Townsend has done has some form of genius in it.Composers:
I've always been of a fan of great filmscores, especially ones that Basil Poledouris and John Williams (and also Hans Zimmer) have done. Christopher Young's Hellraiser scores were awesome, as well as John Frizzell's work on the 4th Alien film, and Elliot Goldenthal's work on the 3rd Alien Film. As far as non-flim composers, I enjoy Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Dvorak, Holst, and also some contemporary writers I was recently turned on to, like Penderecki.Movies:
I like lots of really shitty, funny, B-movies. Troma films mostly, and Peter Jackson's older films. Always been a fan of James Cameron, especially the first two Terminators. Absolutely love the Alien film series. Elm Street, Friday The 13th, Hellraiser, I dig horror. Army Of Darkness, Class Of 1999, From Dusk Till Dawn, Phantom Of The Paradise, PCU, City Of Lost Children, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill 1&2. Tons and tons of movies.Books:
Clive Barker's stuff, American Psycho, Into Thin Air, Catcher In The Rye, stuff like that, you know...Food:
God, just look at me.
